Nozzle Clogging: Causes and How to Fix It

Identify and resolve spray nozzle clogging in your evaporative cooler's water distribution system.

Easy

Common Causes

  • Mineral scale buildup from hard water
  • Debris or dirt in water supply
  • Algae growth in water tank
  • Deteriorated nozzle material

How to Fix

1. Clean the Nozzle

Remove the nozzle from the distribution pipe. Soak in white vinegar or descaling solution for 30 minutes. Use a fine needle to clear any remaining blockages.

2. Clean the Water System

Drain and clean the water tank. Check and clean the water strainer/filter. Inspect the pump inlet for debris.

3. Replace if Needed

If cleaning doesn’t restore spray pattern or if the nozzle shows signs of deterioration, replace with a new spray nozzle.

4. Prevention

Install a water strainer before the distribution system. Use water treatment tablets. Schedule quarterly cleaning and inspection.
